BAR SHOP CARDS
2024
For this project, I designed the shop cards for all three locations of a local Fukuoka bar group. While the bars share a unified spirit, each branch has its own distinct personality. To understand these nuances, I consulted closely with the owner and after spending time in each space, I translated their atmospheres into a visual identity built around torn paper shapes. The owners wanted something abstract, but brushstrokes felt too loose and messy. Torn paper offered an organic feel with just enough control and structure matching the emotional, textured, but never chaotic character of the bars.
This series explores how texture, shape, and abstraction can capture the soul of a place and translate character into visual form.
Kiyokawa Location
Located by the river, this branch moves like a brass instrument loud, joyful, and improvisational. The design reflects this musical spontaneity and energy.
Watanabe-dōri Location
A hidden second-floor bar with down-lighting and deep burgundy tones. The atmosphere feels like a warm, intimate cave, which guided the darker, wine-like palette.
Haruyoshi Location
Still under construction during the process, this design was imagined entirely from the blueprint and color scheme. The final bar aligned closely with the envisioned atmosphere, confirming the design direction.
